Announcing the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index, powered by Artemis data
Digital asset markets are too often clouded by noise, while valuations are dictated by narratives instead of fundamentals or real economic activity. We believe that there is a growing class of tokens with real fundamentals. As real use cases of blockchains like perpetuals, tokenization, stablecoins, lending, vaults, and prediction markets continue to take shape, we expect these tokens to outperform in the long-term. This index is an expression of that thesis and one we hope will become the benchmark for the industry.
Building this index required data that did not exist in standardized form. Over the past year, our team has worked closely with the Pantera and S&P teams and spoke with countless protocol teams, investors and community members to better refine the metrics and datasets. We read through countless docs, Discord/Telegram channels, blockchain explorers, and more over the past year to understand each protocol individually. This results in two things we think will move the industry forward:
Outstanding Supply: a new supply metric that gives a more accurate picture of a token’s economic size, typically a value sitting between the token’s fully diluted value and its float.

.
Standardized revenue methodologies: for each token in the index we’ve standardized what revenue means so that a dollar of revenue is comparable across protocols no matter if they are a lending market, an exchange, or a neobank.

At Artemis, we are genuinely excited for the next phase of growth of blockchains and digital finance. The world is undergoing some of the most radical societal transformations humanity has ever seen, and we believe that blockchains will be a critical part of the future state of the world.
We invite protocol teams and involved community members to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to connect to learn more about the index. Our intention as the data providers for this index is to have the utmost integrity in the data that powers it. To that end, if you are a protocol team that we have not been in contact with yet, please reach out to support@artemisanalytics.xyz or @x0wes on TG.
